- This position will have accountability and responsibility for a variety of mechanical systems in the Power Plant with a main focus on Anhydrous Ammonia. This position will collaborate with other system engineers on the following mechanical systems: Condensate, Circulating Water, Cooling Towers, Closed Cooling Water, Sorbent Injection, and other systems assigned as necessary. - This position will be an in-training back up Engineer for rotating equipment. - This position will coordinate & oversee repairs to equipment in the systems listed above. - This position is focused on the application of technical skills and ingenuity in the maintenance and repair of equipment in the Power Plant. - The responsibilities of this position are not limited, cross training into other systems is encouraged and will be required as the candidate develops in their position. - It is expected that a Power Plant Mechanical Engineer will be present for a majority of outages to coordinate repair activities with Operations, Maintenance, and Contractors. This includes 12+ hour shifts that may land on days, nights, holidays, and / or weekends.

Applying an expert level of skill, the Electrical, Instrumentation/Controls Technician installs, troubleshoots, calibrates, repairs, modifies, overhauls, diagnoses, tests and maintains all power plant and auxiliary equipment, to include power distribution systems, pumps, motors, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and the Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Provides environmental and safety stewardship. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures. Maintains all equipment in optimum operating condition. Develops procedures for plant and equipment monitoring systems to ensure consistent and environmentally compliant operations.

The Compliance/Safety Technician is responsible for assuring that PSGC complies with all applicable compliance standards and that all mine safety policies and procedures are being followed.  The Compliance/Safety technician interfaces with mine safety inspectors and prepares and files necessary reports. The Compliance/Safety technician is responsible for making safety observations and conducting all respirable dust samples.

The Maintenance Technician performs troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance on all electrical, mechanical and hydraulic equipment utilized both underground and surface.  Maintenance Technicians will regularly examine equipment to ensure that it is operating appropriately.  This position must become knowledgeable in all aspects of mine operations and learn the location and function of equipment operating at the mine location.  Maintenance Technicians work rotating shifts so schedules vary to cover all hours of mine operation which may include overtime, holidays and weekends.  Maintenance Technicians may be subject to call-ins to assist with maintenance issues that may, or have, impact plant performance.  Prairie State Generating Company believes to be successful we must first and foremost work safe, follow job plans and Standard Work Procedures (SWP’s) when performing tasks or operating equipment.
