Overview

 

This position reports to the Facilities Supervisor and contributes to the Maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the company and is responsible for the upkeep of all assigned equipment.  Second shift currently works from 4:00pm to 2:30am Monday through Thursday.  

Responsibilities

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, any one of the following assigned areas:

 

  • Performs a wide variety of duties to troubleshoot, maintain and repair all company facilities and grounds, including roads, parking lots, ditches, and other related areas. Including but not limited to:  General cleaning, Painting, Flooring, Door and Door Hardware repair, Roofing, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Concrete, and other maintenance type work.
  • Works with other departments to support the total operation of the PSGC campus.
  • Maintains Campus lighting.
  • Operates heavy equipment proficiently, including but not limited to Fork Truck, Tractor, Skidsteer, Backhoe, and Dump Truck.
  • Can work without direct supervision.
  • Must have the ability to think outside the box and perform emergency work when needed.
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance.

 

Other Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs special building and road projects.
  • Maintains all PSGC Rental property.
  • Understands and reports on Work Order progress.
  • Documents all work performed.
  • Reports all problems to the Facilities Lead Tech.
  • Works with all Plant and Mine personnel to ensure that all maintenance needs are met.
  • Maintains proper records.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Equivalent work experience, or training in a technical field such as, Electrical, Plumbing, or Construction, are preferred, but not required.
  • Maintenance experience in the Facilities Field is preferred, but not required.

  

Certification/Licensure

  • Construction trade certifications are preferred.
  • MSHA Training preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour training preferred.

  

Knowledge of

 

  • A practical, working knowledge of mechanical equipment, general construction, and building maintenance.
  • Must have experience in work planning and execution.
  • Must have the ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Adherence to high ethical standards and integrity are absolutely required.
  • Understand preventive maintenance tracking and procedures.

 

Skills, abilities, and physical requirements

  • Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ability to work any assigned shift, including evenings and weekends, if required, due to emergencies.
  • Ability to work primarily on 2nd shift from 4:00pm to 2:30am Monday thru Thursday including additional days or shifts as required.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as required.
  • Strong aptitude in math and have mechanical/electrical ability.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lb.’s.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Work in close quarters.
    • Work from elevated positions, walk or climb up and down stairways and ladders and climb on and off equipment and must be able to bend or stoop for a full shift.
    • Don and wear required safety equipment including respirators, hearing and eye protection, and protective clothing.

  • Routinely travels to other company sites for maintenance.

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

At Prairie State, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as one grows and develops within a role. The base pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this role is between $27.00 per hour and $28.00 per hour. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as skills, qualifications, and relevant experience. In addition, this position is eligible to participate in the Company’s monthly incentive program.

Prairie State offers all full-time employees paid time off, accruing 160 hours annually with gradual increases based on length of service, as well as nine paid holidays per year. Paid maternal and paternal leave is also available to employees that meet the eligibility requirements.
