Overview

The Warehouse Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the PSGC Mine Warehouse.  These duties include the ordering, counting, kitting, rotating, shipping, safeguarding, and inventorying and distribution of all materials, tools and supplies, including expendables as well as capital spares, pumps, conveyors, motors, etc.  Enters incoming and outgoing materials and supplies into inventory management system.  Conducts periodic cycle counts to assure accurate inventory levels.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, any one of the following assigned areas:

 

  • Receiving all material and supplies and assures that all materials and supplies are accounted for and are, as ordered. Expedites the receipt and distribution of material as required.
  • Input new Add to Stock items and assign assets per approved documentation.
  • Pull identified reservations and kit items for retrieval by maintenance, operations and engineering.
  • Assisting the Supervisor in establishing the optimum location for all materials and supplies.
  • Operates all materials handling equipment, forklifts, hoists, pallet movers, loaders, load securing procedures, etc.
  • Perform cycle counts of material to assure accuracy of inventory.
  • Assures that established procedures for withdrawing materials from the warehouse are followed.
  • Operates the inventory control and materials management system, including assuring that all goods are entered accurately in the system when received and issued from the system when released to the field.
  • Maintains high level of housekeeping.
  • Over time must be able to identify critical spares for the mine.
  • Computer skills to load inventory data into computer inventory system.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.

 

Other Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Participates in regular safety meetings.
  • Must be familiar with catalog of Safety Data Sheets.
  • Must be familiar with QA/QC procedures and compliance.

  

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

May direct contract personnel.

Qualifications

Education/Experience


High School diploma/GED required.

Minimum of two years of warehouse operations experience required.

Minimum 1-2 years forklift experience required.

 

Certification/Licensure

 

Must have a valid Illinois State Driver’s License.

Hoist certification preferred.

 

Knowledge of

 

  • Basic warehouse operations.
  • All state and federal laws and regulations governing materials used in the power plant.
  • All health, safety and environmental risks associated with warehousing practices and procedures.
  • Excel and Word software.
  • Maximo preferred.

 

Skills, abilities and physical requirements

 

  • Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ability to read and understand material certification paperwork.
  • Ability to work any assigned shift, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as required.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Stand or walk for four to 10 hours per shift.
  • Be seated for up to 10 hours to operate equipment.
  • Frequently lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Work from elevated positions, walk or climb up and down stairways and ladders and climb on and off of equipment.
  • Don and wear required safety equipment including respirators, hearing and eye protection, and protective clothing.

Compensation and Benefits

 

At Prairie State, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as one grows and develops within a role. The base pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this role is between $25.13 per hour and $32.52 per hour. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as skills, qualifications, and relevant experience. In addition, this position is eligible to participate in the Company’s monthly incentive program.

Prairie State offers all full-time employees paid time off, accruing 160 hours annually with gradual increases based on length of service, as well as nine paid holidays per year. Paid maternal and paternal leave is also available to employees that meet the eligibility requirements.
