  • Overview

    Prairie State Generating Company (PSGC) is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in developing plant site-specific training.  A limited number of internships are available for college students enrolled a specific curriculum.  Participating as an intern, individuals will experience creating stand-alone eLearning courses or online presentations for instructor-led training using courseware development tools. Instructional design, curriculum design and eLearning development, including recording, editing and syncing voiceover narration to programs of instruction. Experience with authoring technologies and multimedia applications similar to Articulate Storyline 360, RISE, video and audio editing software; eLearning storyboarding. Understanding of ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) learning models and knowledge of adult learning theories.  PSGC will provide experience and exposure to state of the art technology, industry experience, hands-on training, and exposure to industry professionals.  In this internship students will directly with the Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Compliance, and Safety departments to gain exposure in all aspects of technical training development.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

    • Develop content, multimedia visual aids, educational videos, and other training materials as needed using a wide degree of creativity and latitude
    • Produce audio/visual media to support PSGC plant site specific training objectives
    • Research the latest developments in audio/visual media creation and apply solutions for training purposes
    • Assess, leverage and optimize educational content from third parties
    • Manage multiple training projects to meet stated objectives and timelines
    • Organize logical training by interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs) and conducting research to obtain the information to be taught
    • Determine practical audio/visual media standards for production
    • Learn new technologies and processes to create efficient and effective training
    • May be required to cross train and perform other duties
    • Be a valuable and respected member of the overall PSGC team through a high level of professionalism, maturity and commitment to the stated values of the PSGC as witnessed by their daily conduct, words and actions.

    Education/Experience

    • To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program such as Education, Organizational Development, Business Communications, or equivalent.
    • Must be in good academic standing.
    • MUST be available for a 13 week program beginning in Mid/Late-May to Early/Mid-August.

    Certification/Licensure

    • N/A

    • Safety and health hazards associated with each job assignment.
    • OSHA/MSHA regulations
    • Basic Industrial Hygiene sampling methods

    Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others.

    • Ability to sit, stand, reach, stoop, and lift boxes weighing as much as 25 pounds.
