  • Overview

    Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in the corporate Accounting/Finance environment of the power generation and coal mining industries.  A limited number of internships are available for college students enrolled in a specific curriculum.  Participating as an intern will provide experience and exposure to state of the art technology in coal mining and power generation operation.   Student interns will receive industry experience, hands-on training, paid intern program and exposure to industry professionals.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

    • Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
    • Assist with treasury functions, including daily cash reports.
    • Perform accounts payable and general accounting duties as assigned.
    • Assist in contacting vendors regarding payment methods and invoicing options.
    • Assist with the evaluation of internal accounting controls.
    • Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports.
    • Maintain electronic/archived record of accounts payable and payroll.
    • Work on special accounting projects which may include projects in Accounts Payable, Budgeting / Forecasting, Payroll, Tax, Compliance Assurance and monthly financial closing processes.
    • Provide support to the Finance team as assigned.

    Education/Experience

    • To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program in Accounting, Finance or related.
    • Must be in good academic standing.
    • MUST be available for an approximate 13 week program beginning in Mid/Late -May to Early/Mid-August.
