Overview

This position reports to the Commodity Manager and is responsible for assisting with day to day profitability of the company by the economical and efficient procurement of materials, supplies, services and equipment for the operation of the power plant.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering, operations, and corporate services organizations in selection of materials and services, keeping them advised of new developments as appropriate.
  • Assists in resolving invoice price and quantity variances between quoted and invoiced amounts. Researches and resolves routine problems on purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Assists in the creation and monitoring of blanket and contract purchase orders
  • Assists the procurement staff in making sound purchasing decisions by providing detailed cost analysis, combined with practical experience.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in the development, review, and issue of requests for information (RFI) and requests for quote (RFQ), analyze proposals, negotiate with assigned vendors to ensure materials and supplies are purchased at the most economical total life cycle cost.
  • Measure, analyze, and understand complex business issues
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform special projects and other related duties as needed.
  • Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Practice/execute the core competencies of: supply chain management, business & financial acumen, leadership & project management, supply chain information technology, contracts & contract law, supplier risk management, and communication.

Education/Experience

  • Must be enrolled in College or University degree program for Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Senior Status required
  • Must be available for a 10-12 week program from Late-May to Early- August.

Certification/Licensure

  • None required

Knowledge of:

  • A practical, working knowledge of automated materials and purchasing systems as well as general knowledge of accounting procedures and computer technology.
  • Must have the ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Must possess highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Adherence to high ethical standards and integrity are absolutely required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
