Overview

Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in public relations, within the energy industry. This paid internship program, will provide students with hands-on training, industry experience and exposure to industry professionals.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

  • Developing public relations materials
  • Planning and execution of company events and initiatives
  • Research and media tracking
  • Writing internal and external communications
  • Assisting with community and member relations

Education/Experience

  • To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program and will have completed their freshman year of college.
  • Must be in good academic standing, with at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Preferred majors of study include: public relations, mass media, journalism and/or communications.
  • MUST be available for a 10 week program beginning in Late-May to Early-August.

Skills and Abilities

 

  • Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand operating procedures.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as required.

  • Exposed to a quiet to moderately noisy environment primarily; very noisy and dirty environment occasionally.
  • Exposed to industrial safety hazards occasionally.
