Prairie State Generating Company is looking for a graduating college student or law student who is interested in a summer intern program in our legal department.  Participating as an intern will provide experience and exposure to a developing legal department. Student interns will receive industry experience, hands-on training, paid intern program and exposure to industry professionals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following (other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):

  • Working on legal, ethics and compliance projects.

  • To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree or law school program.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • MUST be available for a 10 week program beginning in Mid-June to Mid-August.





Knowledge of

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Beginner to Intermediate level of proficiency).

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, stoop, and lift boxes weighing as much as 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read and understand, and write as necessary and under supervision and direction of General Counsel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a highly organized work environment.
  • Ability to conduct research using on-line tools.
  • Ability to maintain required confidentiality of legal matters and other proprietary matters.

Work Environment

  • Works in an office environment primarily.
  • Works in a power plant or coal mine environment occasionally.
  • Exposed to a quiet to moderately noisy environment primarily; very noisy and dirty environment occasionally.
  • Exposed to industrial safety hazards occasionally.
  • Routine business travel. (ex. includes local courthouses and other governmental buildings)
